Honestly, the Steam joystick support looks good and it also has a keyboard mapping facility. The Steam Big Picture mode was working perfectly without Joystick mapper, but the game didn't. Once I nailed the controllers working with the OS, I was able to get the steam controller settings all working, but the game didn't work with those. It was scoring a lot of 1 star reviews, but turns out the latest Mac OS X broke it (big surpise, Apple engineering losers) and that he refreshed it and all of the whiners had nothing to whine about anymore- thing is awesome.ĥ) took 2 screen shots of the keyboard mapping and in about 5 minutes had all the keyboard equivalents of the controllers mapped using Joystick Mapper.Ħ) Fired up Love and low and behold- everything working AWESOME. Now I knew I had 2 controllers that were working with the OS.ģ) A bunch of googling basically showed me that "Love" barely works right with controllers and that only the Xbox ones were really blessed.Ĥ) Someone on that commuity thread turned me on to something called "Joystick Mapper" which maps controllers to keystrokes. The one with a dead battery would work as long as I left the USB powered. With this I saw the sony ones were connecting. Awesome! These will never connect.Ģ) I Found an AppStore app for mac os x that helps test controllers called "Controllers lite". I searched online and found out that 2 out of 4 of my controllers were chinese knockoffs that were being sold as Sony controllers on eBay. Quite a debacle, but here's what I did:ġ) I noticed some of my ps3 controllers had a different name and that 2 of them had "controllers" mispelled. Little things like that seem to matter but not working for me.Īlso would be great to hear if there is a good way to test besides seeing the controllers show up in the bluetooth menu. I've heard that this doesn't work unless you uplug first, then hit the PS3 button, and then pair after the lights go out. Not sure how the conversation above is making progress without explaining exactly what you tried in terms of steps. Some things I saw that I haven't tried include resetting the controllers with pins, etc. So in the end it doesn't look like eitherĪ) this version of steam (Dec 16 build, v020 API) is able to connect to the PS3 controllers or Only way to be safeġ3) After restarting computer, hit both PS3 controllers (I paired 2) and note that theyĪ) both show up as connected in mac bluetooth menuġ4) Launch steam, then launch Lovers. Then select ANSI.ġ2) Reboot machine from space. If this is the PS3 controller, that's a dandy of a questionġ1) After just hitting the key on my real keyboard, do the same and hit the key to the left of the right shift key. I'm told this resets them from pairing to PS3.Ĥ) Wait until something shows up in bluetooth preferencesĦ) Verify this now shows up as a device in the bluetooth menu.Ĩ) Steam sees it needs to install a driver and shows picture of PS3 controllerġ0) Mac says it sees a new keyboard (?!) and I should hit the key to the right of the left shift key. Lights on controller flashĢ) Unplugged until lights went out. If there is an FAQ with steps, please point out thank you.Ĭontrollers: Tried PS3 Bluetooth (mac claims they are connected via bluetooth) and nobrand wired PS4 controllers to no avail.ġ) Plugged USB cable (data one) into mac.
